History

2013

The Lord provides the vision to CFE founders, Todd and Jessica Strawser, to develop a ministry whose purpose is to encourage Christian families and churches to honor the elderly by applying Biblical principles. The ministry is created during the summer months under the auspices of Generations.org.

In November CFE holds its first eldercare seminar, publicized primarily by word of mouth. Anticipating about thirty attendees, organizers are thrilled when nearly one hundred people attend the event.

2014

ChristianFamilyEldercare.org website is launched for the purpose of providing encouraging articles and resources to support caregivers and others who seek to honor elders in their old age. An Advisory Board is recruited to oversee the ministry.

2015

In March, CFE hosts the first Christian Family Eldercare Conference dedicated to Biblical eldercare. Speakers include veteran caregivers, pastors, deacons, physicians, nurses, attorneys, and care-giving families. Recordings from the conference are in demand by those who are unable to attend due to caregiving responsibilities at home. CFE tapes interviews with caregivers for a video project that will offer encouragement and tips for those who are just entering the caregiving season in their own families.

CFE Director Todd Strawser is interviewed by multiple radio stations about the ministry.

2016

CFE publishes its first book, Home-Based Eldercare: Stories & Strategies for Caregivers, by Marcia Washburn.

Marcia Washburn is appointed as Assistant Director of CFE to handle the day-to-day operations of the ministry.

Future CFE projects include expanding the practical caregiving content on its website, developing a series of booklets focusing on key eldercare issues, developing a church eldercare ministry training program, and other initiatives, as the Lord leads.
